    DOWNING STREET C'est à Downing Street à Londres que se trouvent les résidences officielles du Premier ministre, au no; 10, et du ministre des Finances, au no; 11. Le terme "Downing Street" est souvent employé pour désigner le gouvernement.
    DOWNING STREET DECLARATION La déclaration de Downing Street est une déclaration faite conjointement en 1993 par le Premier ministre britannique John Major et son homologue irlandais Albert Reynolds. Les deux chefs d'État s'engagèrent à négocier avec les différents groupes impliqués dans le conflit d'Irlande du Nord à condition que ces derniers déposent les armes. La déclaration fut suivie d'un cessez-le-feu entre les groupes paramilitaires protestants et catholiques et a été déterminante dans le processus de paix qui aboutit au Good Friday Agreement (voir encadré) de 1998.
